V.6.2.1 Clinical T

Coding Instructions:

• Refer to the most current AJCC Cancer Staging Manual for coding instructions.

• Code the clinical T as documented by the managing provider or first treating provider in the medical record.

• If the managing provider has not recorded the clinical T, registrars will code the clinical T based on the best information available.

• Code cTX is used for occult carcinoma of the lung.

• Use code 88 for clinical T, N, and M as well as clinical stage group when:

• Site/histology combination is not defined in the AJCC Manual.

• In situ tumors that are not staged according to the AJCC Manual.
